Cremona Contemporanea | Art Week

May 22, 2024

Cremona Contemporanea | Art Week stems from the need to reaffirm in Italy and abroad the value of Cremona through a dialogue between its places and contemporary artists. The cultural heritage in the city area, which counts numerous historic buildings, small and large squares, private galleries and disused spaces to be rediscovered, needs to be reactivated, enhanced and promoted.

Cremona has been a crossroads of changes, theater of interesting cultural and political ferments, tensions and conflicts, and has seen the passage of important families who have left traces which are still visible today. The project aims to give voice and life to this important artistic and cultural chapter (and capital) of the city and to witness the vitality and richness of the cultural and social status of Cremona.

Building on the success of the first edition, which recorded more than 15,000 visitors, Cremona Contemporanea Art Week 2024 intends to continue the dialogue between the local historical and artistic heritage and international contemporary art, transforming Cremona for a week into a place of experimentation, knowledge and discovery. For the period of the art week, the artworks – some of them specially produced for the occasion, presented through a widespread exhibition – will cross various places of the city in dialogue with the treasures of Cremona, getting the chance for new reinterpretation through the experiments of contemporary art. Important new feature of this year’s event regards the even more active interaction and participation of the entire city through the development of “Progetti Faville” carried out with important Italian and international cultural realities, with the aim of enriching and expanding the exhibition itinerary of the event.

Cremona Contemporanea | Art Week is a project promoted by the Culture Department of the City of Cremona, with the artistic direction of Rossella Farinotti, coordinated by CFAgency.
